how easy is it to remove the side molding? is it just glued on or does it have screws in it?

it should be glued, mine was...only thing i say is TAKE YOUR TIME when pulling it off cuz if you dont you might bring some more of the paint off than what is needed...i used one of those retractable blade tools

yours isn't glued it's riveted.... pre '85 (i belive that's correct) is riveted and post 85 is foam taped you'll just have holes to fill when you're done

Well my old 82 trans am was double sided taped on .. my friedns 84 s/e was double sided taped on as was my 85 s/e my friends 86 bird and cousins 89 formula. Only time ive ever seen the riveted on was on a camaro. Im just stating what ive seen, kinda adding to the mystery of what warrented having the riveted moulding. Theres probably birds w/ riveted moulding dunno.

maybe it was a difference in assembly plants cause we stripped a bird a couple summers ago with the riveted on trim there have been a couple discussions about this in the past but i don't remember for sure what the conclusion was

after some searching i have realized one thing.....there is no rhyme or reason behind whether or not the trim was riveted or taped but nobody has said that they have post 85 riveted trim so it leads me to belive that it was only produced in the earlier years... so camarogirl you're not incorrect with your info at all he pretty much has a 50/50 chance of having riveted or taped trim
