auto console swap... just one question and i'm done

i know you have to move back the shift plate... and someone said you take a "big freakin' hammer" and knock it back...

but.. there are two cables coming from the front that attach to the shifter, i tugged on them a little, and they feel really tight... won't moving the shifter plate back snap those cables??

also... when drilling the new holes, how do you line them up with the holes already there? THANKS!! I'll show you pics of my 4th gen interior as soon as i get answers to this question!
