How to fully close hatch when switch is bad?
I have a bad striker sensing switch in my hatch pulldown assembly. The hatch will latch ok but will not pull down. I need to get the assembly to move down to fully close the hatch until I get my new switch in the mail, so rain won't come pouring in.
Anybody know how to do this? Can I just jumper between certain leads to do it?

well, if you know what switch it is thats bad, i would take the rear panel off, close the hatch, crawl thru from the inside and short the switch connectors until the hatch closed shut.
you cant put the trim on that way, but its a temp thing until the switch comes right?
btw, you got it lucky... when that goes bad with a vert, we have to slide under the top of the trunklid to fit there.... its a slightly smaller fit.. lol

When you remove the rear plastic, you can see that the whole motor/pulldown unit is bolted to the rear sheet metal with (I think) 4 bolts.
If you loosen these, you will find the whole assembly is slot mounted, which means you can lower it, then retighten...when you do this, it will latch lower and seal.
Just remember to move it back when you install your new motor, otherwise you can strip the plastic gears on your first close...:nono:

Ya, i did that for mine. It broke and wouldnt lock at all. Before I did it I marked with a Sharpie where it belongs so it would be easy if I ever did fix it....
