Ha. I'm in the process of doing so as soon as I can get some red cellophane. You have to take the indicator out of the shifter trim first. Next, you have to carefully pry the PRN@D21 plate off of the backing, which is an orange piece of plastic painted white. Depending on the color you want the indicator to be, you have a couple of options next, but either way you have to get that white paint and all of the glue off of all three pieces. Next, clean the actual indicator and use a single strip of double-sided tape right down the MIDDLE of the indicator so that the color appears uniform when you reassemble the unit. Next, cut a piece of white paper (like I used because I wanted the white color for the daytime) and stick it to the back of the indicator using the double sided tape. Now, if you don't want red or orange, you have to replace the orange spacer (the thing that makes the indicator orange) with a piece pf plexiglass the same thickness, and then apply some more double-sided tape to that. Now, take a break from all the hard work and go for a drive to the nearest craft store and get some cellophane in your desired color. all you have to do now is stick that to the piece of plastic that goes on the bottom of the indicator piece and double-sided tape that to the paper or whatever you have under the actual indicator. Superglue or model glue will work wonders here for sticking the whole mess back together inside the light housing. Screw the housing back in and you are done.

not quite.

Its Electroluminescent tape. Normally its white (hence the 'P'). We stuck some blue EL Tape-Tape on it so it would light up blue. (They have EL-Tape-Tape for pretty much any color). Wherever the indicator is, it will be white. You have to break open your shift indicator housing, requiring it to be re-glued with some hefty glue to get it to sit right. There is a little blue plastic peice that normally goes underneath the indicator to give it some structural integrity. I had to get rid of it to get the desired effect. The tape is much thicker than any backing so it would not slide easilly with it in.

Also, I wired up the inverter through the light socket that would normally be there. It emits a small buzz, but if you get the right one, its pretty much inaudible unless you put your ear to the console.

I must say though, when I first got it, I had to try to keep my eyes on the road, I kept staring at it. Its a perfect uniform blue color throughout, so there are no dark spots.

I give credit for Scott_92RS for pretty much coming up with the entire idea and implementing it.

indiglow gauges are the same thing as EL strips/tape - same principle... looks nice though - may have to do that to match my new indiglo gauges

oh, one question - are you just very careful not to turn the interior lights down? The inverters aren't really supposed to be driven at voltage less than they're designed for...

I never turn mine down anyway. The lights are always maxed.
