Vert owners rejoice!
I don't know about you other vert owners, but I can't see anything in my car at night! The other day I got so fed up with it I went out and bought some velcro and some small tap lights to fix this annoying problem.
For less than $20 my problem has been solved. :hail: :lala:

lol it's only there when you need light, then it's stored away. I don't see how it looks bad if you don't see it
and no I do not have lights on my mirror

lol saiyajinxero has been in it many times and knows what a pain it is to see anything, blah. I guess the 87 just didn't get the mirror lights because it wasn't really meant to be a convertible

oh, if you guys want em, they're pretty easy to install...
the wiring for the normal lamps by your feet is usually there for most cars.... even those that didnt get them.
goto a junkyard and start looking at 90+ fbodys, blazers, and, well most GM cars..
the mirrors just install like normal..... but theres two wires behind them....
take off the trim piece up top and run some wires along it, down the a pillar and under the dash.. then hookup to the regular lights by your feet...
if you dont have the wiring, just tap into the self grounding contacts on the doors..... id use a relay but its not that hard...
while you're at it, you could go all out and find a mirror that also has a compass, or a temp gauge...

Well, I took your advice and picked up a lighted rear view mirror for my 88 Vert - got it off of Ebay.
I just got it and the piece that connects it to the metal tab glued on the windshield is different.
The mirror on my car now (non-lighted) slides onto the metal tab and is attached with a screw. The lighted one I got from Ebay doesn't have the screw hole and doesn't appear to slide over the tab.
Of course, the seller from Ebay is NO HELP whatsoever.
Did I get screwed and got the wrong mirror? If the lighted mirrors mount with a different windshield tab, anyone know where to get one?
Any help will be greatly appreciated - really hate to have to go buy some tap lights.....

They had 2 firebirds and 3 Camaros, though they were pretty stripped out already.

did that junkyard allow you to go in and browse through things? or just make you wait at the counter while they looked

GM mirror "tabs" are pretty universal.... ive never had one that didnt fit or interchange...
perhaps you have a non stock mirror? like a aftermarket one....
you could goto a autoparts store and get the lil tab... they're usually right next to where they sell the mirror tab adhesive.. get the adhesive and tab, and make sure it fits your new mirror.
then, be sure you're not going to glue it on backwards.. remember, the SMALL size gets the glue and goes in the windshield.
now the tab thats on there is bonded to the glass. it will never come off, so even when pro glass shops mess up they do this..
glue the new mirror tab over the other one.. be SURE you're not gluing it on wrong, because ones its there, its there for good.
then just slip the mirror on and snug the set screw and its there.
