firebird console question

firebird console question

I have a 85 camaro sc that im putting a 87 t/a consle in and the main console fits good but the radio holding part wont mount. is there a good way to mount the radio holding part of the console? or should i try and make a custom box for it?

Sweet, that is something I would have never thought of doing

But I would say get you some sheet metal (wood could possibly wook if Waterproofed and then carpeted to keep it from ever rotting) and make you a nice custom peice and then you could mount switches and put a normal sized headunit it w/o any adapter. You could also go a step further and take the hvac control bezel off (the part with all the words ) the front and make a new plate to match. You might even be able to find a place to mount 2 small speakers on each side, the possibilites are endless

Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo,shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
What about using plexiglass. Back when i had no radio trim piece i made one out of plexiglass, i painted the inside of it black. Looked pretty good, would of looked better if i cut it striaght

firebird radio pod ?

I have a console out of a 87 t/a thati put in my sc and i run into a prob about the radio pod, i thought about making one out of sheet metal or wood, wtich one should i use and how would i go about making it?

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
It's gonna be a custom-fit job no matter what you do. Maybe take some measurements and cut the front section off the old Camaro console to fill the gap. Cut it oversize and trim it down to fit, making sure you keep the mounts for the radio and HVAC controls.
