hey people i need some help, i got a 83 z28 with that nasty lookin ball shifter so i got a nice T handle out of a cavi. anyway i tryed putting the on but it will not go down far enough for the button to work and for me to put the pin in. i even tryed a firebird t handle and that does the same thing. can someone please tell me how i get it fit/work, i asked before and i was told that i can change the ball shifter to a t handle, is there something i am missing or not doing right.

Do you have the slot cut in yours for the keyway in the shifter **** to slide down into so it won't spin around?
