Hood wont open

Welp, i was testing my subs and i failed to realize they drain the batter very quickely. So needless to say my car didnt start and being the quick thinker i am i proceeded to get ready to charge my battery. So i open the hood... i... hopen the hood.... DAMN HOOD.

It woudlnt open.

When i pull the latch it sounds like it unlached something but nothing opens.

Is this common? and is there any way to get it open? It's never done this before.

Stand in the middle, put each hand under the hood near their respective headlights and give it a nice big tug.... it'll open, it just needs a little coaxing.

And then if that works try puting some grese on the latch.

Try giving the hood a good light tap with the bottom of your fist(pinky side) near the bend in the middle and about 1ft from the front of the hood.It works on firebirds it may work on camaros too.

muwahaha, finally i can insert some "real" tech advise. My car does athat all the time. I tell my buddies that it is my camaros magic trick. If you pull the latch in the car.. and it doesnt open, just try shutting your drivers side door a little harder than normal ( well maybe even just normally. We al know bout our heavy a$$ doors). That little jolt is always enough to pop the hood open. Tada ! ad thats my magic trick.

my hood is a bitch sometimes. The previous owner said sometimes hed drive around just to get it open. hehe. anyway I usually hit it pull the hood release thing a few times again hit it again till it opens usually works in a few shots. Then spray some wd 40 into the latch.

Best of luck

Try having someone lift up on the hood by the headlight pokets as you pull the release. If that don't work try to get under the bumper and see if the cable is still in place. Or maybe you can pop it from undreneath (I have done this a couple of times)

Hahah, thats what i have to do to ! I have a bird, and thats how i fix mine. My GF car does the same thing, but hers is a Camaro, and what i do for that one, is i hit the front of the hood (pinky side down of course) and i hit it about a half foot to a foot to the left of the middle. Hit it once or sometimes twice and it opens up. Otherwize jack up your car, and hit the release with a screwdriver and if needed a screwdriver/hammer combo. Works like a charm.

If all these tricks fail, you might have to crawl under the front of your car and work the mechanism by hand.

Another suggestion!

Go to the front and push down so the hood will re-latch and try pulling the release again. It might take 2 or 3 times to get it to pop open. after you get it open and spray the hell out of it, pop the spring coil off the hood and stretch it out about an inch. They get weak as time go's by and they don't work so well! It cured my problem!

I'm glad you got it open, kind of hard to work on your car when the hood won't open.
