Aftermarket Glasstek doors....

Hey all, I was looking on Glasstek's site today (at their 2'' cowl) andn oticed they had 85-92 doors for sell. The model# is D1017. Anyone have any experience with these? that'd be nice to shave all that weight off of the doors. Those thinsg are MONSTERS and weigh a TON.

Would these doors be able to still hold the stuff for the power locks/windows? Would they look factory w/ a nice paintjob? Thanks guys, I am really looking hard at these and any info would be GREAT. Lata.

Most all of the fiberglass doors are for use with Lexan Windows and there is no where to mount a window regulator so The window can not be rolled down but This is just from the few I have personally seen, not sure if they were glasstek or not.

Not a good idea for the street. No side impact support. I say you start with the glass itself (do a search for the lightweight hatch glass), and if you ever find a fiberglass or carbonfiber door set that has window rails, it would work out with alot of time and effort. I have never seen a lightweight 3rd gen door that will work with power or manual windows. For my track car I plan to completely gut the doors (just sheetmetal and the lock), but I'll be running a full rollcage with 2 side impact bars on each side. Honestly you'll find cheaper and easier weight reduction mods elsewhere on the car. IMO this is one of those mods you do if you've already done everything else and you need to go even lighter.

Hmmm, alright. Prob. not then. I just wanted to drop sum weight and make it so the door would shut (you would be suprised how many ppl have a hard time closing the damn doors cuz they're so heavy). Well thanks for the info guys.

$560/pair? you can get 2 doors from hawks and buy the hinge repair kit from TGR (that will help the doors close smoother since they are greaseable) and it will still come out cheaper than the fiberglass ones.
