crappy carpet question?

hello all,

I just recently purchased a folding hatch cover with no lock on it for five dollars. It is my cars color interior plastic so i got lucky, however the carpet needles to say look like heck besides being not a good color for my tastes, i have stripped it of and am in the process of getting the crappy glue like substance ff as well.

my question is, where can i find more carpet that isnt like a whole set to put on this thing?

i looked on yearone.com as well as jc wittney, no dice.
what i am looking for is some good looking carpet that i could easliy cut and afix to this cover. it would mostly be sold in sheet form and be color match to my car, if nothing can be found im gonna get black carpet cause my floor matts are black, and itll still match some other part of the car and nt drive me insane.

my last option is to paint it again to the plastic color of my car so itll match the trim its next to...

thanks for anything you guys can give me.
btw im researching the best way to afix the cover to the car, any great idea or links would be great, i found iroczdaves site already... thanks!

I would try going to a local carpet store. I've heard that they sometimes sell scraps left from installations for cheap. Even if they dont, you may be able to purchase a small quantity at a decent price. Bring in some kind of sample so you can match the look and feel of the carpet to the rest of the car.

Another option is finding a local auto apholstry shop. They usually do work like replacing rag tops and recovering seats, headliners, visors, and carpet.
Good luck

Try the following link:

http://www.paddockparts.com/Paddock/.../homepage.asp?

I know they sell uncut and pre-cut pieces for the deluxe carpeted area of our cars--shoot, you may decide to do the entire rear section.

hmmmm

that site looks good, but they look out of stock, and i sure hope i can find something to caver this this with for less that 32$, or my 5 dollar find wont mean as much, i may just leave it cleaned of gluey carpet stuff for a while before i get carpet for it, a lock thatll fit it might be just as good a thing for it...
