Car broken into, need to replace side window

This morning as I was leaving for class I got a heck of a suprise. Some jerk decided that they wanted my cd player and busted out my driver's side window to get it. The window was in millions of pieces, they took the cd player, and broke the plastic part of the dash that covers the radio and heater controls.

After talking to a few other residents of my apartment complex that live below me, that another guy had someone go through his car. He went outside to find his door hanging open and the dome light on. Lucky for him they didn't take anything. Whats sort of wierd is that my roommates Sunbird was parked next to me with the doors unlocked and his cd player ( which is probably worth 3 times what mine was) was left untouched.

Who ever did it went about it in kind of a risky way. They broke the glass only 20 feet from an apartment window and did so at about 8 pm when people are usually around. Unfortunately nobody saw anything.

I called 4 local yards and they practically laughed at me when I asked for a replacement window. Luckily, my dad managed to find one back home. So now I have to make a 2 hour trip in 20 degree weather with with plastic taped over the window just to go home and install the glass.

Here's where I need help....

I can't seem to figure out how to remove the black piece of plastic that is around the door handle and the lock. I found that only a few of the screws are actually screws, some of them are just plastic molded to the trim piece that look like screws.
How do I get this piece off?

For those of you that have replaced a side window, about how hard of a job is it?

I filed a police report, but we all know how much good that will do.

Remove the door lock switch panel and you will find a screw under it. Also the lock lever under the door handle fits on a rod and will pop off with just a little gentle pressure.

The Trickster!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all honestly Ihad the same thing happen on my 91' GTA the night my fiance gave birth to my daughter. I have full glass coverage thru my insurance so it didn't cost me anything. But I watch the guy install it (and he was the professional) It was a big pain in the you know what.... If your still gonna try it by yourself I wish you the best of luck.

As far as the door handle trim there are 2 screws holding it in one straight behind the handle. If it has the new style trim there is another one straight back from the handle behind the little pop out TA logo.. If its the old square style there is one behind the Big pop out TA emblem 2 in the back corners and if memory serves me correctly that should be all unless you have the wire mirror adjuster in which case there are 2 there also top and bottom of the rear side.

I replaced the window about a week ago. Once I figured out that I had to pop out the middle section of the trim piece over the screw the door panel came off fairly easily. The glass was a pain to get in.
