Driver's side door won't open

well you can call me a duma$$ if you like, but I locked my keys in the car this morning. Had to use a coat hanger to get into it. I managed to get in there and pull the switch forward, but the door wouldn't open. Ended up having to pry the window out enough to pop the t-top out. Now the problem is that even thought the it's unlocked, the door wont open from inside or out. I can hear the mechanism moving in there, but no open. If I slide the lock switch, I hear and feel it moving. Any ideas how to fix this one? It sucks climbing over to the pass. side

my guess is when you were messing around with the coathanger, you unlatched the door mechanism which means its floating around and your door cannot be opened.

your best bet is to take off your door panel and just put it back on

Ha! That's how I had to get into my car last time I locked myself out too. Even with the door slightly ajar, I could still barely get my arm in the window, and I've got pretty skinny arms.

IMO, the best way to get in is with a long rod. Poke it through the window on the opposite side of the door you're trying to open, and then push it against the lock. Works great.

Solution:
Keep a spare key in your wallet, or you can tape a key inbehind your license plate or keep it hidden in your gas cap

if I pull the handle (inside or out) to try to open the door, it feels like it's still connected. We'll see. I'm gonna go mess with it now.
