Most colleges that have the paint program will let you paint it in the booth. If not no you will end up with so much crap in the paint it will look like you textured the paint. Now if you have a closed garage, you can wet the floor and hang up plastic to keep from getting paint on the wall. You will get pretty good paint results, not as good as a down draft booth but good. Do not paint it outside.

I agree with Aviator your best bet is to find a booth. If your in body shop school they should let you use the booth if they have one.Or if you have to you could rent a booth to use at a body shop. You need friends in the business anyway they might let you use it for free if you tell them your tryin to get into the business.Try a body shop thats kinda a smaller one or two man body shop like a backyard bodyshop. If you have to paint it in a garage you should get pretty good results just wet the floor with water and use plastic like aviator said. You will prob need to wet sand and buff the specks of dirt out.But you need to learn how to do that too. Don't do it outside your just askin for trouble even if or when it turns out bad you still have all that junk in your paint that you can grind it in deeper by sanding. And it will prob be under your new paint if you have to repaint it.Just remember Prep is 90% of a good paint job and keep it clean dirt or grease can screw-up a great paint-job.And Have Fun.

I painted my old one 3 times in my driveway with a serious attempt to keep dust levels down, and I still got crap in the paint. Find a booth.
