removing rear seats
Why is it that GM always finds a way to make jobs more difficult then they need to be?
Anyways im pulling the rear seats out of my camaro, i have the split bucket fold down seats. Took the seat pieces out no problem (actually found 3 bucks under the seats..score!). Went and took off the bolt for the back pieces and it seems that the 2 back pieces are connected by a plastic bar that runs on top of the drive shaft tunnel but under the carpet. Is there any way to disconnect the seats from that bar or is my best bet to make a cut in the carpet?

Just take both nuts off the back seats and then the seat backs pull out of the bar that is rivited to the floor. There's just a plastic bushing in the seat that the bar goes into if i remember correctly.

yeah got the bolts off on either side of the seat that wasnt an issue and they pull forward but there is a plastic bar in the middle of the two seats that runs under the carpet that appears to be glued to the seat.....

Hey....I took out my seats a long time ago, but I about to put in new carpet. I want to remove that plastic bar that goes over the drive shaft. How do you guys remove it without doing damage? Can you just hammer it out?

they just pull off that bar.
if you want the bar removed......then pull the carpet up and drill out the 2 rivets that holds it down. hope this helps.

They do pull out.. it's just a pin.. I pulled mine out just a couple of weeks ago.. it does "grip" a little.. requires a little tugging.. especialyl if you have not had em out before.

On a similar topic anyone have advice on what to do about the unsightly bracket that sticks up out of the floor for the bottom part of the seat...? I assume cutting it out and buying a new carpet is more or less the only option
