Help, I bent my uni-body!!!

Help, I bent my uni-body!!! Hey all, I got minorly rearended the other day while slowing down for a stop light....It was the shuttering sound of SCREEEEEEEEECCCHHH Wham!!

So be it..it happens...Didn't call insurenace, because they have it valued at $1050, even though $15,000 have gone in it...I didn't want them to total my car and take it away....

OK, long story short, The only thing wrong, is it appears as though he hit more of the right side of the rear bumper...Not much damage except for the Right Rear Seat is tilted to the left, and the latch engagement **** doesn't line up with the latch anymore... The latch on the seat is about an inch and a half to far to the left to line up with this ****....

So it looks as though maybe the rear subframe had been pushed in a hair and buckled outwards a hair towards the right fender....

Any thoughts on a fix for this????

if you kept your recepts, report it to insurance.

then fight for the car....

then they either fix it, (most likely) or they'll pay you your 15k.

its a long PITA process, but it probly will work out better.... if you kept track of everything.

Hey MrDude... I apprecaite that input, but I have been over that conversation with the "what if's" with teh Insurance company, and it wasn't looking possible......

Does anyone have any technical ideas on this that may help?? I know alot of body shops use jigs with hydraulic jacks.... I just didn't know if someone had more specific info on this or other ideas.....

A body shop should be able to handle this. They would strap it down to frame puller and straighten the car out. This is a pretty standard task and shouldn't be too much trouble unless it is severly bent out of shape.

The insurance company isn't going to tell you it is possible to get what you have in the car out of it, but talk to a lawyer in your state and see if you have a case different states have different laws about this. However for the cost of the repair vs the increase in premiums will probably pay you just to do it out of pocket.

However if the unibody is bent then well you will need a good body shop to do the repair. They use a machine and mirrors to measure points on the car until it is exactly with in specs for the frame. You will never get that good of a result with a jig and hydralic jacks. Or buy a body and transfer eveything over, just make sure the body can be or has a clear clean title. Time wise body shop will be quicker, money wise a new body will be cheaper but will take alot of your time.

go and talk to the techs in a body shop, tons of us do side work and have acces to the shop keys, they might be able to pull it into specs for a couple hundred bucks on the side. but dont wait to long ins. wont pay if you wait to long to make a claim.

The pontiac place in Gainesville(hall co) has one of the most advance machines in GA. Jim Hardman is the name of the place, but I doubt it will be cheap. Leasters in Gainesville is real good but they are one of the most expensive places here. I don't know of any small shops that have a real good frame machine.

Dont matter if they got top of the line 8 leg frame machine, when some dope is doing the pullin, a simple frame mashine with the right guy will take care of it, but remember ou get what you pay for...

The guy who hit you from behind did he have insurance??? Do you have recipts showing you put 15k into your car? If so i would go to an attorney and sue sadly enough that is the only way to fight with insurance companys.
