taillight questions or mod help
i have a white 91 camaro and was woundering if anyone has took off the inside red or yellow plastic lense on there taillights and just left the out side clear lenses. if so how hard was it and what did you use to do it?

i would see about using the apc l.e.d. bulbs for our car's socket in back. bright a$$ red at night. pat

the problem with those led bulbs, though, is that they just face straight back..... they dont shoot light back into the reflective area of your inner taillights, so all you see are little bright circles in the middle of the areas that are supposed to light up..... as opposed to the whole area lighting up.....

I've seen a few L E D bulbs with side facing l e ds as well, they seem to light the lense up a little better. try ebay thats where I saw them.

Theyre called matrix.I just ordered 2 on ebay.I hope to get them this week.Heres a pic .The left is a matrix,right is a typical LED.Matrix uses 24 LEDs,18 face outward & 6 face back.

I've got those matrix bulbs on the back of mine and while they do look better than the standard 18 led ones they don't hold a candle to the light dispursion(sp?) of a regular incandescent bulb... To really match the light pattern you'd need a whole board of leds like some of the newer caddys and bmw's.
