ok guys, the cars ready for paint, and i finally found the shop to do it. they only use PPG paint, and do a really good job from what i hear. they said anywhere from 1000 to 1200 should get me a really nice paint job. so now only one thing left to do, decide on the color! im really set on sunset orange, but i like black too. the only reason i like the black is because the t-tops are black, that that would give the car that "hard top" look. and i dunno what it would look like w/ a sunset orange camaro w/ black t-tops. anyone have any pics of camaro's that are sunset orange and t-tops? i really dont wanna paint the t-tops, so if it doesnt look good, i guess ill just go w/ black. what do yall think? say the hell w/ it and go sunset orange, or go the "hard top" look and go w/ black? hmmmmm

My roomate has that color on his 02 SS with black T-tops. It shold give you an idea. There are much better pics on my cardomain site.

I don't think tees and SS orange will look any better than any other ttop car....or any worse for that matter. I happen to like the way the tops break up the body color. That's why I like the way some of the 4th gens have black hardtops, and different color body paint. None the less, I understand the look you're going for by going all black, and that's cool too.

My vote is SS orange!

i painted the center trim piece adn the side trim pieces on my t-tops body color. i don't really have a good pic though, you can kinda see in my sig pic. i like how that makes them look in relation to the body. just a thougth for ya.
I also agree with the sunset orange color.

What about Hugger Orange? I believe the older z28 came in that color. I think those are pretty cool.

It was out in 99 only. It is a really cool color and be super unique on 3rd gen.

Uhh, hugger orange was originally on 1st gens.... not 99 only.

One of my friends used to have a 1988 Medium Orange Metallic Formula. The first pic came out too dark and the second is too light...so the color doesn't look quite right on screen, but in person it was the only orange I've seen on thirdgens that I've liked.

No, you are wrong. It did not come on 99 only cars. It came on 1st gens AS WELL as some 99 models. Not trying to start a flame war, just hate to see people misinformed.

Yea I sorta goofed and read his post wrong. I figured it was implied that everyone new about the origonal hugger orange. So by "only" I meant the only year out of the most current f-bods. I thought he meant that it didn't exist at all in 99. Arguing about the same facts....

aight thanks for all of the replies! i think its going to look pretty damn good myself, expecually around here. i had a 00 dodge dakoka that was a similar color, and there are two 5.0 stangs that run around here w/ a similar color, but no 3rd gen. camaros w/ sunset orange. and ive only seen one 4th gen. WS6 w/ sunset orange. the shop that did my body work said he could do my paint for about 1,200$, that includes wet sanding and all that good stuff. some may say thats kinda cheap for a good paint job, but ive seen some really nice work theyve done. so we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out i reckon....
