new ideas

i'm getting ready to start some more body work and i've been considering smoothing out some of the seams but i'm worried about driveability for the street.

does anyone have the gfx's, bumpers, etc. molded to the car so there are no seams?

yeah , i remember seeing that someone on here did it, it took them a few tries to get it so it wouldnt crack, i think they had to bolt pieces of metal from the car to the bumper. What about doin vertical doors or a reverse hood , or have the hood and the nose tilt ot something .

when i took my car into the paint shop on sunday, there was a honda civic with custom molded gfx out of aluminum that then were glassed into the body. they were extremly solid, and i dont think they would crack going down the road.

i should be getting the car back on friday, i can take some pics if you want Jeff.

i asked this very same ? good luck on replies.

iroc2nv showed me pics of his but it was totally customized not just plain gfx like yurs i personally think its a great idea.

i asked about it because doin body work on mine i got some overhang ran onto my rear n front bumper that loked ok. but it was only bondo so i knew it would crack. if u could keep it fomr crackin it would be great.
on that note body shop supplys stores sale flexible repair compound for our bumpers maybe can bond them to the fenders and 1/4s then fiberglass then bondo em and maybe that would work.or the thin metal idea would.
i thought of glueing mine together w/ like seal al glue and then doin em but never did.

well i'm not worried about the fronts except for if one was not so bright and hit a parking curb obviously there wouldn't be enough flex in the paint and it would crack. however my problem lies in removing issues. when it comes time to take something apart and the rest.

it would cause a big problem if you had to remove a bumper that was molded like that. a real reason why most cars that are done this way either have complete pannels that come off or are show only.

anyhow just an idea...

Could just mold the gfx (part that's under the front bumper) to the front bumper.... make a vertical cut in it where the nose piece/bumper stops.. and mold the rest into the fender. It'll just have a vertical line... no horizontal boundry lines.
