Cannot Open Hood

Last week my car started leaking antifreeze. So I parked it and tried to open my hood to check it out. The hood release didnt work at all, as if the cable was not even connected. After I checked I found out the cable was totally disconnected from the hood release. I have had a few people come and try to open it to no avail. I tried pushing it down and hitting it. I have tried pulling it up from both sides. I even had my friend who is a locksmith come and try to open it.
So I deicided to get under the car and try to release it from there, but nothing works.

If anyone has any idea how to get it open please help me.

You can take the air dam off the bottom of the car and unbolt the latch from the bottom, its a huge headache though.

if ur lucky its just the spring, in which case, get a buddy to pull the hood lever out, and hold it there, and u pull up on the hood

If when you initially pulled on the hood release it felt like it pulled the mechanism like it was supposed to but then nothing after that then it has released the latch but your hood is sticking a little bit.Try driving it around the block at slow speeds a few times or even on a bumpy road and it will usually pop loose after a short time.Mine does this now and then.just don't go too fast though.

i had this problem when i first got my car, and it needed oil badly !!! what i had to do was crawl under the car wtih a stocket (1/2 inch i belive) and unbolt the latch from the hood so it would pop up on its own and not be connected to anything.

Mine would occasionally get stuck last summer. Try this:

Have someone pull out the hood release and hold it out. You grab the hood at thr front, like in the headlight opening, pull up firmly, and give the hood a good smack with the other hand right above the latch. Never failed for me.
