hidden magnetic key holders. Check yur car!!!
hello eveyrone im guessin this would be in the right place.
ok today something weird happened but was a nice surprise.
keep in mind ive had my grille in and out numerous times and done tons of sanding and bondo work painteg n stuff around the grille area. also when i got my car i cleaned it out and found a lil lid like a box top had no idea what it was but now i do.
it was the lid to a magnetic key holder for spare keys. had no box or key but the top so someone found it before i got it or had it in there .
today was nice out so i had my car out sanding off my glazing putty and primering eveyrhtign one last time and washed it off and wet sanded it.
when i went back in the garage w/ it tonight i was talkin to my dad and happened to reach up in the grille opening for some reason and felt somthing move and heard it move when i brushed againist it. come to find out it was a magnetic key holder mounted on the metal bar on top of the grile opening.
when i bought my car had no door locks keys and what was in the box?
u guessed it the door key!!! yea!!!!
it wont open my passenger side door itll go all the way in but wont turn might be the lock but i didnt want to force it and break the key.
however my drivers lock had been tampered w/ someone tryin get in w/o a key before i guess and itll open it fine.
the hatch lock was screwed up from the last owner needin in there so i dunno if the key fit it or not.
i'd advise everyone to check yur car if u are or esp if u arent the original owner maybe someone has done this to yurs hidden some keys out of site . or maybe from the dealer?
them lil boxes had gm stamped on em so could be factory.

I think you bring up a good point that is probaly never really looked at. Someone knows where the keys are to your car. I had craploads of spare keys for the bird for reasons unknown i think i gave the kid who bought it liek 4 sets and two alarm remotes came across liek two more sets a few days ago and just siad the hell with it. Took em to this littel pond thing behind my work and tosses em to the middle. That way i dont have em in case something like that ever comes up and they will never be found. lol my dad found the last owner of his trucks house and boat keys on one of those things on his truck. At the rink i work at the coaches have to use they're car keys to get teh lockerroom keys so he just put those on a ring and uses em so he can get a lockerroom key without giving the keys to his truck.

they were in my car to when i bought it, the scary part was that i am like the 7th owner of it, and it has been painted, so you know it has been apart. I lost it somewhere tho, but luckily i took the keys out of it before i did, wish i still had it tho.
