Door Hinge Kit

Is there a good kit in the market that compare to the kit that Andy sells that will do the job. I need to fix my dooors before I can get the car painted and looking to save some money. He sell the for $97.00 each and I will need two $194 plus shipping.

75 bucks or even less to have it fixed by a body shop, cheaper then the kit and no work for you, well look at that

I'm really curious what the auto body shop is replacing for just $75 as you claim. I suspect it has to be just the lower hinge pin and lower hinge bushings. If the lower hinge pins and bushings are all you need to replace you can do that yourself for a lot less than the $75. That includes buying the GM door spring removal tool.

And in answer to the original question, no other kit exists that will do what 3rdGenSolutions kit (aka Andy Z28) does. The kit on eBay from Canada consists of just replacement upper hinge pins and nuts, no new upper hinge bushings. GM's solution is more expensive yet, requiring you to drill out the existing spotwelds, un-wire the door electricals, lay the door on the ground, drill and bolt a new hinge in place then re-hang the door. Roughly double the labor to do that vs. 3rdGenSolutions kit.

The standard kit (non-greaseable) is $74 per door, not $94. The Greasable upper hinge repair kit is $96 per door. I am the only distributer of the kit that adds a grease fitting cap on the zerk fittings. It just helps to keep them free of debris between greasing them.

Thats what I was trying to find out in a cosyt comparison. I doubt that a body shop will fix the hinge for less than $75.00. Thats what they charge an hour for labor. I will be getting back with you.

Well really now, not only did i just do a set of doors the other day on a merc, i work at a shop so i know this ****, no doubt that your kit will fiix it, but then who will align it again, its not science but its not that easy to get a door to close under its own weight when let go, thats just my test when i do doors, but yeah, lower adn upper hinges fixed for 75 bucks a door man, and we all know that the bottom hinge is the one that always goes bad, the top one aint all that abused....

You're right, it's not "Rocket Science" to re-align a door. I sell the E-Z Store Door alignment tool by Steck which is designed for just this purpose. Anyone can easily align the door themselves if necessary after repairing the door hinge if they have the proper tool. I only wish I'd known about the tool before I invested in MAC Tools version which is not only a lot more expensive, but a pain to store by comparison.

Here's an easy way to line up your doors. Open the door a little bit, and then set a floor jack under it to support it. Put a towel or something between the door and jack so you dont scratch the paint. Now loosen the hinge bolts, move the door where you think it needs to be. Use the jack to raise/lower the back part of the door, and roll it back/forth to adjsut forward/back. Now tighten the hinges back and close the door. You will probably have do do this a couple times to get it right, but it works, and doesnt require any special tools.
