T/a-firebird headliner fit a camaro?

will a trans am or firebird headliner(board fit my 86 sport coupe?
they are both hardtop cars.
i need the board and all for mine and can get the bare headliner board sail panels and sun visors covered in brown out of a trans am or firebird beleive its a firebird because it has the bird emblem in the center of the tail lights. i can get thoose parts for 20 bucks at a local bone yard and get some material to do mine in red.
if not then i have to do some traveling and go to another junkyard that has some late 90s camaros in it so im hoping the firebird board will work im thinkin it should. anyone know for sure or not?

yeah man it will fit the interior stuff, besides the dash is all the same. Just make sure the donor car has the same roof as you (ie t-tops/hard top).

If you need any help in repairing the headliner email me at jayannsilentbob@hotmail.com
i am always on the computer(65% of the day) so i'll respond pretty quickly.

to start hyou off strait i made a nice tech article on the repair of the headliner, here it is,

http://www.freewebs.com/kidrcth/Headliner%5FRepair.htm

very nice article has many pics and makes the install a snap.

Yeah it works like people have said. Only thing different is some of the patterns and colors for the interior, but everything fits. but I just wanted to point out that Trans Ams are Firebirds....It is a Firebird Trans Am, just like Camaro I-ROC. I have a Trans Am with the bird on the back

ok thanks yur cars like the one im gonna get the board fomr.

i wasnt sure im not up to date w/ trans ams n stuf just camaros mostly i know they make like firebirds firehawks trans ams gta all that and i wasnt sure. but it has the lights just like yurs not much left of the front end it had caught fire. seems eveyrhtgin in the interior was saved tho.

color and pattern doesnt matter to me because its just the bare board im gettin no foam or nothin and i am goin to recover it myself w/ some material.

wished my local wal mart had a good selection.
we don got furs or gorilla hair or velvet or nothin. just cloth liek factory or t shirt sweat shirt material thats it.

Don't do fur...I had covered my headlliner with some vinyl and it looked good, but I ended up scrapping it because my board was just too far gone...even after I had tried repairing it with fiberglass. I suppose a velvet wouldn't be so bad as long as its short pile and non crush. Look for fabric stores around your area like a Jo-Ann's or something.....they'll have a much larger selection than Wal-Mart.

There is a Jo-Ann's at Beckley Plaza S/C at 307 Beckley Plaza
Beckley, WV 25801-2215. That isn't too far from Logan is it? I say you go there...they have all sorts of fabric, including headliner material (although I know you don't want that).

Yes man it is all down to opinion and the fur is awesome. I dont care how many of you say it odnt fit the muscle car image it is awesome all in itself.

That red stuff, ahhhh d00d that would be awesome.

And yeah d00d wemon do love the fur stuff. I had my gf's kid in the car(with her car seat) and she was all feeling on the stuff and asked her mom what is it and stuff. Pretty cool, even a todler likes it.

Should be interesting....that is surprising that it is so much per yard, I know velvet is more expensive than other materials, but $20 is a bit steep. I believe I saw it for like $12 a yard at my local place. Faux just means fake in general.

just so you know, 2 yard is plenty for a headliner. if youre gonna do other stuff in the car...i.e. sail panels and visors, then you should get about 4 yard. i bought 2 yards to start, and did all the plastic trim pieces, along with the sails and stuff. i went back and bought 3 yards for the headliner, but never got it done, then i sold the car, so someone out there is gonna have a mismatched interior....o well not my problem

i sorta know what your talking about where nothings near you. I've lived in jacksonville, florida my whole life, and when my step-dad got orders to go to dahlgren, virginia, i didn't know what todo. We had to drive 2 hours for a good hospital(DOD hospital). We used to have to drive no longer than 7 miles for that. It was like being in the moddle of nowhere. The local walmart was 45 minutes(used to be 3 minutes) away. The nearest mall was an hour("used to be 5 minutes). We then moved back to jacksonville 3 years later(got new orders) and all was back to normal. The moral of the story was that i know what your coming from, nothing being near you.

I went to walmart yesterday, for red velvit cloth, it was $8.50 a yard. They were out at the time but thats seems like a pretty good deal to me.

While i got some cash i'm gonna go buy some leather to recover my door panels and some on the interior plastic panels. I'll be sure to take as many pics as i possibly can so that everyone will be able to see it. Maybe even make a nice tech article on it too.

Thanks,
Shane
