I dont know how to make it a poll, but if you had a GTA with a stock digital dash what would you do.

I would probably got with the 4th gen dash. Personally I hate the digital dash, as well as all digital gauges. Theres just something about watching a tach needle fly that can't be replaced . I just got an 88 GTA shell for free, and it has the digital dash. However, its all taken apart and the dash is out of the car. I don't even want to bother trying to hook it back up, I'll either do a 4th gen dash, or just 86-92 firebird dash.

I say stay with the digital, but it's your car. Hey Ward, I'll take that digital dash off your hands!

cool, mines still all attached and in working order. the only think that make me wonder is theres a button for the computer that brings up average speed, and it says 24 mph i know it has to be higher then that lol, speed limit here is 45 on the streets. yea you should sell it to him, and notchback with a digital dash :hail:

The average speed is includes when you are stopped. So if you just run the engine but aren't going anywhere, your average will go down. Also stoplights and stop signs bring it down too. I already have a digital dash and I love it. I would love to have a spare!

I had the same issue a while back. I have an 88 GTA with a digital dash - some gauges worked some didn't. I was ready to chuck the whole thing. I found a replacement dash that had some broken gauges as well. Between mine and the new one, I had a complete digital dash. I swapped what I needed and cleaned all the glass, and now I love my digital dash again (until it breaks again). If the swap from digital to analog was "plug and play", I would have done it already. Replacing the gauges was relatively easy. The hard part is going to be finding working ones without selling your soul (and it's not going to get any easier or cheaper). I imagine that at some point I'm going to have to change my set up, because I'm not paying $300 for a digital dash set up that will only break soon anyway. And the aftermarket is no help either.

Honestly it depends on the style of car. If it's bone-*** stock, then it might look a little drastic in there. That's not to say it can't look good in a stock car, but I think so far the best 4th gen interior swaps are BOTTLEDrZ28 and Fatal88; very slick cars with interiors that compliment them well. CustomX has a pretty stock looking ride, but's he did such a good job and it's so clean that it works. IHI did an excellent job as well; the modern dash in a dragster-esque car is a little odd, but still it's very well done. I look forward to completing my installation (sloppy wirey mess with no dash, console, or door panels right now ) and think it will properly match the theme of my car

i just got done doing this swap into my car..... i hated the placement of the gauges on the digital dash so i swapped them out.... really wasnt hard at all....... if u need any help just pm me..... i still have all the wiring info and what not.... and the old dash is up for sale if some one wants it.....

keep the digital dash! Its part of the 80s, i love the style also. My cousins 87 GTA has it as well. Also i think of Kitt with the digi dash And honestly, i hate the 4th gen dash, it looks soo boring. I think 3rd gen dash are awesome and have that diff style. Plus its a PITA to do a 4th gen swap

actually the swap is really easy and straight forward...... remove and replace......

what he said, if you'd like a more difficult swap, get that auto console into ur 3rd gen car from the 4th gen....was more time consuming than my dash swap, unless you include all the wiring, which really was about a weeks worth of stuff.

yea if u think the wiring is hard.... try being the i think not sure 1st to do the swap on a factory digital dash..... all my stuff was different... but if u take your time and look at everything u can get it done fairly easy.... heck i got the cluster right the first time....
