2 fix power antenna or not to fix?
My power antenna, as are many is broken. It is stuck in the UP position. The previous owner just disconnect the wiring harness to it. Anyhoo.
When I get the car repainted, should I shave the antenna or attempt to replace/fix the power one?

That depends, I deleted my antenna (it would never stop running
) because I don't use the stereo very often. I have a 12 disc CD changer in the car. Not much need for a radio when I have all those CD's!

Not sure on the cost of a new power antenna unit, but if your mast is upright and motor runs, then the plastic cable is broken. GM sells the cable in a kit . I changed mine last year. IIRC it was 20 bucks tops. The only tricky part is pulling the extended mast out through the fender skirt. Well worth it to have an operational antenna again!
EDIT.....I looked through my receipts. The GM part# was 22038195. $22.83 plus taxes.
