Autometer gauges

I didn't have any luck on the electronics board so here goes....

1. Do all autometer gauges light up or just the Ultra Light series and the Cobolt series?

2. Are the shift lights removable from the tach's?

3. Are any of the other gauge brands any good?

Autometer's are nice, but they're very expensive by the time you get a complete setup. I don't like the look of auto gauge or whatever that is that Summit sells. What about something like Faze or whatever that is that advanced carries?

I'm pretty sure all autometer gauges light up, and I think the shift lights that come with the tachs should be removeable. It's funny that you ask if any other brand gauges are good, cause I've discussed autometer with some guys with imports and they seem to think autometer isn't that great, they run apex'i, greddy, etc. Autogage is a cheaper brand Autometer, it's not a summit brand. Faze is like APC gauges, I think they're hideous but to each his own.

AM gauges that aren't the Lunar, Cobalt, or UltraNite series are illuminated by a 194 bulb.

The light can be removed from the tach.

VDO makes good stuff, not likely to be much cheaper if at all, however.

Auto Meter gauges are pricey becuz they are the best out there. Look what Nascar teams use. those that say auto meter gauges are junk are the ones that either hooked them up wrong or had other problems with wiring. I run all AM gauges in my car and cant complain one bit about them. you buy cheap you get cheap

Thanks guys.

I know autogage isn't summit, actually summit has their own brand, but they look pretty plain.

I really like the Cobalt series, but I want to flush mount everything, so I'd want to remove the shift light from the tach. Also, I don't think they make a speedo for this series, which is odd, but I haven't seen it available anywhere if they do make one.
