There was a photoshop on here a while back of a 4th gen (LS1 Style) front bumper on a 3rd gen firebird. It looked really good, but it also didn't look too easy. Maybe someone has the pic...

If you can get an integra bumber on a beetle, then by all means, you can get a 4th Gen bumper on a 3rd Gen

Don't feel to bad XS.. when the idea of targa tops first surfaced (many moons ago), people thought I had actually chopped the center bar out of my car (I only Psp'd it to show an example of what it would look like)...

Blah. Swapping hoods and wheels is one thing, but swapping a whole front bumper... eh. Would take a LOT of time and modification and would just be confusing to your eyes when you looked at it.

If you're gonna go that far with it, why not just buy a 4th gen. Me personally, I bought the 3rd gen cause i liked the way it looked over the 4th gen. You just seem to be doing a lot of work to make your car look like something its not.

hi, in Taiwan, its very hard to own a 4gen, not only they have not be imported, but the liter of the engine is too big, start from 3400, that will cost me alot of tax very year, I love the 91~92 nose, so I am think maybe it is possible to put on 4gen nose too, the body shop here tell me there is not thing impossible, just costs money!

I love the 3 gen better too!!!

Which is the actual point of customizing a car to one's personal taste.

Also keep in mind, not everyone sits these piles on an ivory tower. Some people see them for what they are... just a car. Some people see a good starting point for a car that could be better

Creativity it what changed the 2nd gens to the 3rds. Don't you think the 2nd gen purists were pissed about the new 3rdgen design ?....

No, i dont think the 2nd gen purist were pissed, at least they shouldnt have been. Theres nothing wrong with modifying or customizing your car, I mean thats what we all are doing, right? But to take a 3rd gen and add a 4th gen front and rear bumper, wing, wheels and engine just seems overkill when you could simply buy the 4th gen for probably less than all those modifications are gonna cost you.
Obviously you are going for the 4th gen look, so why not buy one? If they are hard to come by in your area, dont you think the parts to put on your car are gonna be hard to find as well?
Thats just my opinion on the matter. I do think it looks pretty cool, and would be interestinig to do just for the heck of it. But as far as practicality, i dont know.

Kustoms

I have nothing against the "purists" because they hold the actual car history intact. But as deadbird said, It's your car and you can do anything you want to it. I mean, I see these as an idea on a blank canvas waiting to be show to the world.

Yes, I know you can do anything you want to it. And by all means, do what you want to it. But the guy did ask a question in his post (is this to crazy?) and i gave my opinion in that it is overkill. Is that not allowed around here? I'm sure he doesnt need someone defending his ideas, as I'm not trying to attack them. I simply think doing all this work to make your car look like another one that you can buy is very impractical.

Ok, in all honesty, if you could do that AND make it look stock, then I truly believe it could be pretty bad ***. Catch is, i will only look right on the '91-'92 birds. They are the most "waviest" of any thirdgen, hence the only car that front bumper will look decent on.

In the picture, it doesn't look bad at all. I mean, the 91/2 cars already have a similar front end and it doesn't look bad.

It's not trying to make it something it's not. It's simply taking something you like, and with good craftmanship, making it work for you. It's not *****, either. What about the 5" spoiler? No one's been bitching that they're trying to make there car a 2nd gen, are they? How about the 4th gen spoiler, or Ram Air hoods? How come you don't yell at those people? The people that use 4th gen rims. I just can't see the difference. The car will clearly still be a thirdgen, with a little personal touch.

Think long and hard about this. If that piece was aftermarket, or even from a completely different car, would you sitill think of it negatively?
(I realize that most people here are pretty much against and modifications to the the body (these cars are already damn sexy) so I guess I expect negative views anyway)
