85-86 third brake light removal
i'm looking around for a 305 manual iroc and i was really only looking from 87 and up because i really dislike the third brake light on top on the 85 and 86. i was wondering if i were to get an 85 or an 86 and wanted to remove the third brake light would that be a big hassle? would i have to remove it and replace the whole glass? is it worht it? is it even possible to do this removal? any info would help thanx

No third brake light on the 85's. The 86's and any 87 that did not come with a rear spoiler or wing had them (this would rule out any IROC's).
Removing that assembly would leave two holes in the glass, so You'd need to either swap the glass from an 82-85 or 87-90(?), or find a way to plug those holes.

My 86 has a spoiler on it it's the sport coupe almost every 86 no matter what had that 3rd brakelight on it.
Mine didn't work I took it off 2 torx heads on the inside takes it all loose wasn't a pain at all. I got another hatch glass but I plugged the holes off.
If you change hatch it just be 4 13mm nuts I think holds it on and 2 torx heads or 2 other smal bolts that hold the struts on the car or on the hatch and then swap em out the whole deck lid and all.
Removing just the glass fomr the hatch lid makes more work and is a bit harder and more involved.
I took me 2 bolts and used a washer on top and bottom and caulked the washers big time then tightened em down just a lil bit maybe a 1/4 turn w/ the ratchet 1/4 turn tighther then hand. I hand tightened them as much as I could then 1/4 turn w/ ratchet. worked fine. Didn't look bad w/ the bolts showing either but i put on a rear window louver anyways.
