To anyone that has shampooed carpet
To anyone that has shampooed carpet
I want to shampoo the carpet in my T/A and I was curious as to what you guys used to do this. Yes, obviously a shampooer...but what kind, where did you get it, price of it, etc....maybe I could even rent one.
I'm sure I can find one cheaper than buying new carpet....so I want to eliminate this option.
Any peeps done this?

I bought a Bissell Little Mean Green Machine with the tank heater. I got it for $30, but thats only because I work just down the road from the Bissell factory and outlet center. I use the plain cleaning solution that came with it. For really tough spots, I use Oxi-clean and/or my Eureka steam blaster.

I usually just use some Resolve, or even 409, a soft brush and a shop vac. Clean some pretty nasty carpet and this will clean it if anything will. Beware of the carpet in the rear hatch area though, this may be rotten and you can destroy it completely with the brush.

I've had S&C Automotive detail previous cars before and they do excellent work. Not sure on their costs though since I know some guys that used to work out there.
We've rented regular steam cleaners before from the little vacuum rental place on the corner of Merle Hay and University Ave. It's been about 3 and a half years, but I'm pretty sure they're still located there. IIRC, it was something like $40 a day for the steamer though. To much for just a car carpet.
I now use Prestone's upholstery cleaner, a brush, and my new shop vac. Works very well for cleaning the entire carpet before a color change.
