Doors and windows rattling a bit
I have a '90 RS with T-tops. Whenever I drive on some rough streets, I can feel my driver's side door rattling a bit, yet it is perfectly aligned and flush with the body. What can be causing this? Do I have to reposition the striker or something? I've enclosed a pic, so you can see some rubbing wear on the side (that I think it's normal) and more recently, a bit of rubbing wear right on the top of the striker.
Also, when my windows are all the way up, everything seems tight, however when they are open, it seems like they rattle up and down, and make noise.
I already disassembled the passenger side, expecting a loose window motor, but everything is tight, so I think the free play might be some slack in the motors themselves.
How can I fix this? any ideas?? I have the subframe connectors at home, and hope to install them next month, this I think would help a little bit, but not with the wiindow thing.
Ideas Please!!!!!!

Possibly the rattling is from the rods inside the door. Try covering them with foam or shrink tubing or whatever you can find and see if that helps. Another culprit could be the mirrors; I know they rattle on my car when I close the door.
Are the hinges still original? It's possible they need to be replaced and might fix some rattling as well. At the very least, they will get your door opening and closing better than ever.
If you take off the top inside plastic piece on the door, there are two window guides with felt that are adjustable. One or both of these could be loose.
There could be parts loose regarding the window track and all that, but I'm not familiar with that yet.

Thanks CaysE, I have already done what you say. I thought little bits and pieces inside the door could be loose, but they were ok. I even greased the window tracks and all, and tried adjusting the window guides; but the movement doesn't seem to be side to side, but rather up and down... that's what got me puzzled. My passenger side mirror rattles a bit, but only if there's a big bump, and certainly it makes a noise like glass rattling and echoing inside the metal housing.. rather than the thumping noise of the window moving up and down.
The hinges are original... but the door doesn't seem to sag when I open it... although it could be the first signs that they are going away... gee think gonna have to replace the hinge bushings just in case...
