I'm an idiot. Help me fix my hood.

So yeah, I didn't measure the clearance between my air cleaner stud and the hood... And well, I closed the hood a few times on that thing and didn't notice until now. There are four dents (two big ones) the shape of the wingnut and the stud. I can get pics sunday...

Anyway, what's the best way to pound these dents down? I need to sand them because the paint is flaking now. Should I just prime the little area and see what a shop would charge to paint it? Or should I cover it up with a vinyl racing stripe? lol

you arnt the first to do it, and you wont be the last.......

you got it easy... i actually made a HOLE with the stud on the SMC hood of my 82 camaro.

if the paint is coming up, see what a ding shop has to say about it.... one of the smaller ones that only does that kind of work, not full body work. thoes guys tend to do a good job.

if they cant help ya, see what a shop wants to fix it.... i wouldnt try fixing the dent with a hammer though... you'll just get a wave in it there.....

Man even a ding shop is going to charge you like $25 per dent. Youre better off going to get another hood (if its not aftermarket) it would be cheaper. Thats my $.02.

Token, what is with your luck lately?

Personally, I would try to grab a good junkyard hood and just get it painted.

it's even deeper than it seems

Anyway, should I just cut this POS hood up and rivet a steel cowl on it? Does anyone know any kind of cowl (steel or fiberglass) that would go well with my car for AS CHEAP AS CAN BE? harwood makes that one thats like $135 or something.

Next semester I'm taking bodywork classes at the local community college

if thats the case, i would leave it alone till then.
if bare metal is showing under the paint, id put a little SEALER primer, or possibly just some touchup paint over it, and leave it till then.
