Going to repaint origonal Aerowing

I know, I know, get a fiberglass one. Well, as soon as you flip the bill for one I will

I found a couple threads sorta covering this:

It sounds like don't use any paint stripper at all, sand the thing down. Would off the shelf bumper paint primer be good for it? I ws also thinking that latex paint might have enough give for the final color.

Could this be a feasable plan, or should I just put the crack pipe down and go to bed? btw, I have more time than $$$ for this project.

As long as the metal bar on the botom of the arms are not rusted out, painting isn't that hard. Like you said sand off all the cracking paint. Get some flexable bumper primer. Spray it down. WHen you do the final color use a flex agent. If the metel is rusted then well the arms will start to get loose and start to split. It is best to do it in flat black istead of matching it to your car. The flat black will not show the waves the rubber has in it.

Yeah, the wing definately will NOT be bodycolor. I was also planning on painting the the deck the same color as the wing.

Most of the metal on teh right arm has rusted out. The openings have bulged but not split. I was planning on getting some epoxy to fill it & bond it back in shape. The other side is golden.
