Does anyone make/sell a 82 mse spoiler like this?

I have seen all kinds of spoilers available for 3rdgens, but have never seen this one available. I kind of like it and wanted to know if a reproduction is available. I dont think it is available through mecham performance since I have never seen it listed. Here is what I am talking about.

no its not totally custom, i mean mecham made them 82-86 and made a few hundred. No one makes that wing because mecham destroyed the molds or lost them and no one who has a mecham car is willing to take the wing off and have someone make a mold of it. If i had one i wouldnt take it off to have it done.

That's one of the Mecham racing wings from the MSE TA's. I've seen them before, although not in person. I personally don't like them.

Although I did see one on a wide body TA that was race modded and it looked alright. Didn't really look like a F-body anymore though.

It looks like it could be reproduced by modifying a fourth gen T/A wing.

Yeah that looks real close to the 4th gen. I didn't know Mecham made it. My guess was gonna be 4th gen. Good luck finding one.

The Mecham design was actually the basis for Pontiac's 3rd gen aero-wing spoiler design (you know, the flex material one). The wing was designed by Mecham for their SCCA program and was proven to be very effective. Their cars wouldn't go down the straightaways in a straight line at high speeds without them, that's how effective they were.

Yeah, I read about the 82 SCCA TA's and their limited production. I was hoping someone had seen an aftermarket one. I think a lot of people (me included) might want one if a reproduction was made. MSE = MOTOR SPORT EDITION. If you go to my website you will see a link to the SCCA = Sports Car Club of America and Mechams webpage. Mecham modified and raced the new 82 trans am in the 82 SCCA championship, btw he won. A limited number of reproduction cars were made that looked like the race car with that spoiler.
Can anyone on this message board make a spoiler from a mold?

Hawks Thirdgen parts might be interested if there was enough interest in it.

I saw one on a 'bird in CA late last year at the Marine Corps hobby shop when I was doing some body work. I thought it looked pretty cool.

True, If I had a MSE I might not be too quick to take my spoiler off so someone could make a reproduction. I guess most of the owners figure they have a special car and do not want a bunch of look-alikes running around, the spoiler is kind of a trademark of that car. If anyone has a spoiler like this please dont let this comment influence your decision to donate it for our cause!!

I would buy one if it were available. If we showed enough interest maybe a place like hawk's would try and make one. Ok, so would anyone else buy it if it were available?

If I had a Mecham wing, I'd negotiate a cut of the profits to get a mold made. Just a thought for any of you Mecham owners lurking around.

COME ON GUYS!!!! There has to be more people who wants this. It is the 1 and only RACE PROVEN functional 3rd gen spoiler. The 85 and newer TA aero wing was a tame COPY of this one, this is the original. It is a race car spoiler used on the SCCA championship trans-ams. Please keep this thread alive and show some support if you want to find a way to make this spoiler available for us!!!!!

I just sent an e-mail to mechamperformance.com, I believe this is the contact we would have to go through to get one. here is a copy of my e-mail "Hello,
My name is Mark and I am interested in purchasing a spoiler for my 86 pontiac trans-am but do not see one listed for sale. I like the look and design of the spoiler used on the 1982 SCCA trans-am and would like to purchase one. Please consider offering the 1982 MSE style spoiler. There are many other people interested in purchasing a spoiler like this. Many of these potential customers have posted messages at car club websites discussing and requesting this part. I am a member of one of these websites at www.thirdgen.org. All 29,825 members are enthusiasts of the car this spoiler was designed for and could be potential customers of this product. If you do not have any available I could try and locate an original that you could possibly duplicate.
Sincerely,
Mark"
I will let everyone know what response I get. I would still like to see if we can get a reproduction made if they are not able to help.
This should help help end some of the talk and get 'er done.

No it's not. The wraparound Firebird wing is also race proven functional. 200mph functional or something like that... I forget the details.

Good move, but I tried that over a year ago and no luck yet. Mecham would love to offer the spoiler, but they claim to no longer have the mold or even a good spoiler to make a mold from. Bruce Hawkins is also interested in reproing this piece, so at least we're not alone.
