4th gen seats in 3rd gen?
I know its not a uncommon thing, but i never gave it any thought untill today. I just bought some and am picking them up on sunday. my question is this:
1.) are both the front and back both the same bolt pattern as the 3rd gen?
2.) Are they significantly more comfertable than the 3rd gen seats??
3.) all things considered; are they worth the hastle of buying and installing?

I swapped my stock manual cloth seats for 4th gen power everything leather, and I do NOT regret it.
Bolt holes are identical on the seats and so they fit perfectly, including all of the seat belt hardware.

Bolt patterns are the same, mine are firmer than my 3rd gen seats and more supportive around turns and its not a hassle really. You can do it in half in hour if you have some basic tools, 13mm wrench and socket and a torx set for your ratchet and you'll be amazed how easy it is and how much nicer the interior looks with fresh seats.

Much more comfortable, not much of a hassle, and everything bolts right in...unless you had the split rear seat backs, in which case you have to cut off the pivot that sits on top of the trans hump between the seats. But even that's easy enough to do...

I've been thinking about doing the same thing...my drivers seat is power...if I get a seat of 4th gen seats....how would I hook them so the power works? How did you do it? I'd LOVE to get a set of the Trans Am Graphite Leather Seats

I just got a set of 4th Gen Leather seats yesterday. The driver seat is power and is causing me a few problems. The old driver seat that i pulled out was a manual seat and not power. My question is, how do i go about hooking the seat up so that the power works and how do i hook up the lumbar support and the other power accessory on the seat...i'm not sure what it is called?

i went to the junkyard this past weekend and w/ my bro and friend and me and my bro both found two front seats from 4th gens, we came home, cleaned them up and put them roight in, took all of 30 min, not hard at all, and they are deff better, i dont slide around at all when i take corners fast and they are much more ocmfortable, the only hassle was trying to fit the 4 front seats, me, my bro and my friend in my camaro on the way home from the junkyard, lol

unless you're a complete stock **** or you don't have a $1 to your name, there's no reason why anyone shouldn't swap in 4th gen seats. they are far more comfortable, supportive, they look better, they are pretty cheap and easy to find, and they take as long as it takes to remove 10 nuts and 2 bolts, swap seats, and replace those 10 nuts and 2 bolts. if you have split back seats, you can still leave that center pivot bar and not really even notice it.

4th gen seats to 3rd gen so easy my dog could do it. if you have a split rear seat just remove the pivot and every thing fits perfect. no modification at all. for a power seat all the motor needs is power from the fuse pannel and a ground it does the rest. holy **** you even have access to a perfect ground!...the seat bolts!

And 4th gen seats are alot more comfy, I didnt like the power track cause it sits to high.. it adds a good 3 inches or so to the bottom of the seat so I just used the 3rd gen non power tracks

Yeah 4th gen seats look great in 3rd gens and it sounds like they are easy to install... and from what ive heard they are much more supportive and comfortable.

Holy I need to post to avoid the "you haven't posted in a few weeks" message from the new boardhosts :-)
And I'm doing the seat swap and wanted to make sure it would fit into my split seat.

I got my fourth gen camaro SS charcoal leather power seats for 50 (both). You just have to be patient, and they will show up at the yard.
To hook up your power seat all you need to do is hook the orange wire to power, and ground the black wire that comes from the seats harness. You can use the power from the light in the center console storage compartment. Just T into the power wire. It takes about 10 mins. to do.
All in all fourth gen seats are nicer, although a bit more firm than the stock ones. You'll like them!
