Bare interior pics in '86 TA

I got started on my interior last week. I've now got the carpet and some plastics dyed black and back in the car. I've also got one seat covered and three more to go. Hopefully I'll get a chance to dye the remaining plastics and get them back in, then finish the seats sometime over the weekend.

As you can see, a rather clean slate of metal for a midwestern area car. No rust anywhere except on a few bare metal rivit heads that were easily cleaned up. The new interior should be sweet!

Ummmm, oh my! Here's the entire room so that people don't get the wrong idea. I've got my seat material from Hawks, new headliner material sitting along the left wall, and under the table is the overhead console that's getting new elastic sewn in for the pouch. I'm 32 years old and this room is where many of my old toys go to die a dusty death! Muhahahahahahahaaaaa!

Ahhhh, who am I kidding... I just got a new T.A. model and a custom embroidered hat to display in there last week while I was on vacation. I need a kid so that I have a better excuse to hang out in the toy isle at Wal-Mart.

Looking good, I see you have the hard to find 1LE spare too

Some nice colors you chose for the seats too. What color carpet is going in?

Is that really a rare spare tire? Because I have the exact same one.

As far as I know, only the 1LE vehicles got them. All the other thirdgens got the steel donut. You could probably sell that spare for $75+ on ebay

EDIT: alot of people get ahold of 2 of them, and use em as skinnies at the track. They're aluminum too, so you can polish them to a mirror shine.

Are those upgrade speakers in the 6x9 area? I've seen the performance sound that a lot of the 'birds got, but your's looks like it has new 4x6"s!

Sweet looking body btw... wait, I mean, um, n/m.

I have that spare as well, took me a while to get one! I think all the posi 16" cars got them.

Ford Racing, yup... I'm a half converted Mustang fan. Wife still has a '00 GT 'vert that we're just starting to modify. X-pipe and intake are all we have so far. My friend goes to dyno his supercharged 3 liter SVT Contour tomorrow morning too, then we'll make the needed changed and work with Fordchips.com to have his ECU reflashed. Very similar to tune most any fuelie car out there, just not as cheap as what we can do with our old GM ones.

Spare tire is RPO code N64 : WHEEL & TIRE,SPARE, SPACE SAVER, ALUMINUM. Not sure on the ordering restrictions on getting one. I do know that it was not limited to 1LE cars though.

Hampton vinyl seats from Hawks in ebony outer, perforated titainium inner. Black carpet, redyed from original light gray that was still in great shape.

Those speakers are upgraded, good eye! The 4X6's are super expensive though. They cost nearly 2 bucks a piece, LOL! yup, that's right... I sprang for all four of them! From Parts Express if I remember right. OEM quality with a peizo tweet. The 5" "subs" are actually 5" Orion coaxial drivers that I got back when I worked as an installer. Those were a pretty penny and worth every cent. Along with a single 12" sub chamber loaded in the well, it sounded very good for what I had in it. Now, I'll be installing 8's in place of those 4X6's/5" drivers and only running the subs with horn drivers up front. Simple system time. Less weight and it all hides very well.

Just wondering, but wouldn't a steel spare improve weight transfer on launch b/c it is heavier?

So might you be selling them?

Naw, at $2 each and they sound decent, it's worth just holding onto all four. Especially with all of the work I put into soldering the factory wire clips onto them. That dang near doubles the price right there! Parts Express can be found on the web though and cheap 4X6's are easy to find on there.

Right now it looks like Parts Express only has the model down from mine with the whizzer cone. 87 cent 4X6 with whizzer cone tweeter, click here. Shipping will cost more than the speakers, LOL! Or, step on up to an actual name brand speaker...

Weak. I want the 4x6/5" setup for my back! If you ever do sell the rear setup, let me know. You can keep the 4x6 btw, I'd throw my MB Quarts in there!
