Drivers Side Door skin
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted here.
I have had a problem with my drivers side door skin for quite some time but now it seems to be getting worse.
At certain speeds the doorskin starts vibrating and rattling. It is shaking really bad at say 65-70 mph. Anything I can do to get it tightened down, or am I just going to eventually haveto replace the doorskin?

check the adhesive bond between the door skin and the impact bar on the inside of the door.. the two should have a flexible bond between the two.. from the sounds of it, your skin has lost the bond. with out it.. it would do what your saying.

thank you very much sir.
Do you know what I would need to get to rebond it?
I actually think I might have found a crack in the doorskin near the front so it might be a combination of things..

id actually like to know how a doorskin rattles. on my old skin i took off, the cushion between it and the impact bar (actually seam sealer) was tough stuff , and there is no way that it could disintegrate, and not be there. so im not questioning anybody here but r u absolutely sure its your door skin. i mean there are spot welds all across the top and its adhesed on all the other 3 sides. and there is a pretty solid body line runnin thru the center where the impact bar is so its not like the metal is flappin in the wind.
on the new skin i put on i put spots of seam sealer on the inner reinforcement to keep it from rattling but i just dont see it, not on a thirdgen.
get some heavy bodied seamsealer and fill in where it rattles

If there is a crack, I would really check the door over for other flaws. get the crack welded shut and fix any other problems. If the bond between the impact bar inside is gone, you should be able to push the skin out above and below it from the inside of the door. I have never seen or experienced the problem personally.
Well a door skin that has a medium to low crown to it will viberate at certian driving speeds when not bonded properly in the middle. Becuase of how the air reacts when moving across the surface.

I suppose I could be not positive it's the door skin.
Basically at like 65-75 mph (or more but for legality sake we'll keep it at that), the door vibrates like crazy, the mirror is wildly shaking around. If I open my window and put my hand on it the whole outside of the door is vibrating.
If you look at the inside of the door (with the interior pieces on) while driving you can see it vibrating too, so I suppose it could be something different. The rest of the car isn't vibrating like the door though..

My bros Taurus's dash will vibrate very rapidly at any speed above 60mph and exactly at 60mph, it has something to do with physics. Mr Mech. Engineer grad (my bro) explained it to me, but I sorta forgot after last weekend
u think it might be your whole door reddemon, see if there is any play when your door is shut all the way, and if there is move your door striker in a hair so your door shuts tighter.
not an answer but see if it does something
