What are some signs of a Recaro? I think there might be one at my local junk yard. I was looking at some pics of Recaros and the rims and seats looked the same. What are some distinguishable features that will help me identify it? I know the firebird was an 82. Im going back saturday and can take some pics.

 

well im no pro , but the seats, the door handles , and if you know the rpo codes.Other than that you need to ask an expert.

 

Where should i check for the rpo codes? I dont remember seeing them in the center console.

 

82-84s didnt have RPO codes in the cars. The only way to find them is finding the build sheet (most likely on top of the tank in back or under Pax seat)

It may have been 82-83 I could be wrong I know 82s & 83s for sure didnt have them.

I have an 83 recaro. It has the gold wheels like turbines, the bird and tailight on the rear must be gold, look around the rest of the birds and T/A's are white or silver. The door handles will be gold inlaid recaro t/a and the seats would probably be recaro leather buckets such as mine or cloth recaro's, That im unsure of the options. The car will have 4 wheel disc brakes and the 84 recaro is the highly collectible as the 15th anniversary, from what i have read. It was blue and wht. Most if not all 2600 or so 1983 recaro edition T/A's would be black and gold trim and rockers, with gold birds in tailights and gold rims. The door handles are rare in good condition and damn hard to find ive been looking for a year and cant find a single one>>>>>>>I'm missing passenger emblem as it is easily stolen of the handles.

beware the fakes, and be aware i beleive you could order recaro interior as an option but would not get the whole package in 84-83-82
