Ya those lights look cool. I have seen a super tricked out Bird called RAIF on the net with the same setup. If you find the owner's site, she explains how she did it. My idea is, there was at least one GM car, ( a Pontiac Grand Prix maybe?) that came stock with super slim headlights. Find those lights, and they'll probably fit right in with some work.

RAIF's is alright, but I like this one better, it looks more finished and stock. One thing I belive that makes it seem that way is the fact that the hood is modified as well, someone completely eliminated the pop-up headlight doors.

well

heres mine not completely finshed with last little things on them aligning and stuff but you get the general idea , i also wandered about putting a camaro hood on my bird for the same look not sure if it will work but if i get a spare camaro hood i might try it and see if it lines up or not.

The grand prix lamps are slightly to tall (½" or so) for the opening to be a proper fit.
The headlamp door lids are pot metal as well.. not sure how well that would weld up to the plain steel hood.

so, is it possible to take off the top of the headlight doors and weld them to the rest of the hood.... ? btw, where did you find that photo of that firebird... perhaps you could ask the guy who did it, how he did it

I bet a Camaro hood would fit. I think the only difference is the headlights, so you should be good.

The camaro hood (cowl to nose) length is short on a firebird. It can be made to fit. IIRC, there is a post somewhere about a member who did just that.
The abortion of a car originally posted is from an Ebay auction that was posted on here.

camaro hood would NOT be that good of an idea.. the lines are completely wrong... plus, its too short.... any other ideas? Also, any details on how it was wired up would be VERY helpful...

on second thought, now that i'm looking at the hood... that might be a camaro hood, with peices from the old trans am hood bonded on top... see how it looks like it bulges out... he could have done that to hide the body lines, and make it look more firebird-esque

IDEA: how about buying a ram air hood for a camaro, and putting it on the firebird...... problem solved... body lines of firebird... no flip ups!!!

The hood on the original picture is a firebird hood. The camaro and firebird have different hood slopes. The link I posted, the member modified a fiberglass hood to match the firebird lines.
Just to re-create the headlight door lids out of fiberglass and bond them to the firebird hood and shape them in, wouldn't be that tough. Or, tack some formed sheetmetal in and then dough over it. There's options beyond using the oem door lids to fill the hood line.
Regardless, the camaro hood doesn't have the overall length of a firebird hood to fit.

In all honesty, I couldn't tell you how the original pic'd cr was done. Judging by the rear, custom made ugliness, someone probably fabbed custom filler pieces for the hood as well though.
That car was on Ebay probably almost 2 years ago IIRC. I've slept a little too much to remember it in any great detail beyond knowing it was a horrid custom car. Not by bad craftsmanship though.. bad taste.

Wow did not think i would get all these responses.Thanks.About the hood thats not a prob.I think the easiest way would get some sheet metal and just weld it up lol.The hood to me is the easiest part.1st thing would be makeing up some kind of header panal to hold the lights.2 wiring them up so they are like the camaro lights.(Don't really like it when they are both on)And than makeing it all stong so when u are driving down the road your lights don't bounce all over the place.About the pic i found it doing a search on yahoo and just came across it.It was just a pic no info on the car or anything. All I know is who ever did that car had alot of time on his hands.

Uhm, You can' t just "get some sheet metal and weld it up". If you do that it's going to look like @$$. The only way to make it look professional would be to either completely start from scratch, or separate the lower and upper skins from an existing hood, unroll the flange on the top piece, and then you could weld in two new sections, and re-establish a flange.

i like bonding fiberglass to it the best... recess grand prix or geo strom headlights in there on top of a fabbed peice to put them on... camaro headlight harness... and you're golden....

Well I'm going to do more than just get sheet metal and weld in just saying i don't think that would be the hardest part.

Close but, not exactly....
The grand prix, also 93+camaro and a few others, use the same lamps. If you were to put two lamps per side (high & low beam), the turn signal will have to be cut down in width for the lamps to fit. Each lamp is roughly 5½" wide.
And the height is still a issue because the lamp will be shrouded slightly by having them recessed and you'll lose some of the lighting dispersion from the lamp.
The camaro harness also will not work because the GP lamps do not have spade connectors like our cars. They instead use a weatherpack connector...
