Welcome to the Camaro!!!! You must not have had one for very long. They all do that.

Pop it from inside; then walk around to the front, and gently hit the hood with your fist, right above the latch. Gently. If it doesn't pop up, hit it a little harder; and a little harder; and keep doing that until it does pop up. If you whap it so hard that you hear it re-latch itself, try again.

Then oil the latch mechanism with motor oil or gear lube.

Mmm, one other sweet spot is the corner of the hood right in front of the driver's door. About a handlength in from the corner, not the exact corner.

I'm surprised this doesn't vome up more often.

yeh its pretty funny seeing a mechanic struggle to open my hood up, banging the front by the latch? that seems to not work for me, it pisses me off when i see mechanics do this, all i have to do to my hood is grab it and jerk it up without putting force down on the hood or else it will lock up again

Open it "Fonzie style"

I had to for awhile... you gotta pop the hood with the latch (basically so the latch is open) then, in the headlight pocket, grab the hood and pull up a bit. While you are pulling up, give the hood a firm smack right above the latch. This always worked for me. Never once failed
