dash is finishing up

well, i did the 4th gen auto console swap a while ago, now i'm completing my 4th gen dash swap, and want to solve these last gremlins. So, i've got a couple quick questoins.

#1: Does the 4th gen v6 (1995-96) guage cluster use a different tach signal than a standard v6 thirdgen? Such as a 4 Cylinder Tach signal? My tach is reading high, waaaaay high, it'll easily redline when the engine sure is no where near it etc.

and...

#2: Since i've got a cable driven speedometer, and i don't have the dakota box yet, i'm driving w/o a speedo (no biggie, you can judge your speed pretty well, and i'm not a big speedster) but, do i need to have the little optical sensor (yellow box) that connects to the end of the speedo cable still connected to the back cable? Does this little sensor tell the computer anything that's vitally important for the performance of my vehicle?

and finally...

#3: If anyone can help me solve my headlight issues, i'll be forever in their debt. Lights come on, but not up. Dash is 96 firebird v6, have full harness, spliced wires accordingly, still no luck, has anyone had this problem, and has anyone solved it?

PS-
Thanks in advance.

The little yellow box is a VSS or speed sensor and the computer and cruise control do need this signal to work right. I would have thought the tachs were the same, but this may have been an OBDII setup and uses a different signal.

yeh, my issue right now is trying to figure out how in the world i'll connect it to the computer, since it normally ties into the circuit board and has the wires coming out of it. Hmmm, anyone have a clue on how to take care of that delima.

PS- Headlight woes are finished, have both lights poppin up and coming on.
