Idea/Question for tail lights.
Back in the day (93,94 i believe) the Mustangs rear tail lights had 3 parts alligned horizontaly instead of vertically. I have seen one where when the blinker was on the bulbs were sequenced to start with the innermost light, then the middle, then the outside, then start over again. Was this an aftermaket kit and could it be modified to work on our cars? does anyone have one on theirs? Im good with electronics so im sure if could get my hands on the sequencer im sure i could probably get it workin.

Ok i saw the other posts on sequencers and they are not what im lookin for. I want a setup where each light blinks in turn then goes off, kinda like twinkle lites on christmas trees. I dont like the way the whole thing lights up like that. Also want something that can be wired to my original tails, not somethin that requires me to add bulbs.

That's a pretty sweet idea. I'm not sure, but I think it's still called a sequencer. If all else fails, take some electronics classes and sell a kit for a lot more than you paid, make your money back and then some. You'll need a few transistors, possibly a few capacitors, and that's really about it. I'll let you know if I ever find out

yea actually they started using sequencers back in the day around the 60's... i know this because one of my buddies has a 66 t-bird and they use a sequence blinker system.... i took it apart one day to clean the contacts for him and i remeber vaguely how it worked but im pretty sure there is a motor of some sort that spins and makes contact with each seperate light when it spins to complete the circut to each bulb one at a time. then when the motor turns some more its off contact with the first light and onto the second one to complete the circut to that light, and so on..there is more to it then that but im pretty sure that thats the general idea.. ( i no it problly sounds complicated or confusing in the way i described it)...that was just used way back in the 60's im sure that there is a new style electronic peice that u can buy that is not as primitive... ill ask around and post what i find because id like to have this also
Nowadays it just uses a computer chip basically that tells each light when to blink rather than that motor that rubs past each contact. I remember messing around with it in junior high school like alomst 10 years ago

Jegs sells the electronic sequencer for about $35. I don't have my catalog handy but I was just looking at this the other day. My first car was a '67 Cougar with sequencing taillights. I want to add them to my T/A.

I'm not sure which years had them, but the Mercury Cougar had the sequencing tail lights back in the 60's. I saw one the other day. Pretty cool.
