Some Crazy ideas. What do you think
Overhead Flip down LCD-TFT monitors.. Does anyone have one installed on their car. I was looking into installing one and tricking out my '91 GTA a lil bit. My GTA is a L98 so it has a Hard top and that roof looks pretty baron. Anywho i wanted to put a monitor to do whatever i really please watch movies, music videos, watch datalog results. Whatever really. But then i thought well ah **** that would suck cause it would probally end up slightly blocking my rearview.. So i did some searching around and i think it would be pretty neat i just took out my rearview mirror and installed a rear mount camera that feeds to the monitor. So with a quick push of a button it would flip over to rear view mirror mode and when i don't need it flip it back to whatever was on. Be it a music video the passenger was watching or a DVD movie whatever. Plus i think the camera would be good cause the tint on the window sometimes makes viewing through it a lil difficult. Ive seen a couple a cool wide angle camera kits that mount onto the liscense brake bracket. Another one of my buddies suggested i could remove the lock cylinder for my rear hatch because i have a power hatch button on my keychain and inside so it . i could some how rig a camera into there. The car nevers see's any conditions other then Sunny and Partly sunny. So i wouldn't be worried about a blurry view or anything. So does anyone think this idea could fly. Or that it could/couldn't be done. I think i would be a cool HiTech feel to a somewhat LowTech car.

yeah it'd work just fine methinks.
duno about a dropdown in a thirdgen tho.
they're usually for backseat applications... specially in this case, as its gonna be like 6 inches from your face.
you could always do a mirror monitor if you're woried about maintaining visibility:

The problem is getting a camera that can send out a mirror image.. If you put any regular camera back there you would be turning the wrong way all the time.. Check out motorhome supply companies for one that will work..
