Gauges
I haven't taken the gauges out yet.. but i have the dumpy 85mph gauges in my 87 Iroc. I wanna upgrade to the 115 or the 140.. the thing is.. i dont know a damn thing about them.. lol. How do i know if the gauges are on a speedo cable, controlled by the comp, etc. I'm sure i will find other info on this board by searching for installation instructions, i just wanna know what i can do (on what i can buy that will work relatively easily)

Your 87 is cable driven speedo. There's a release clip at the back of the speedo, you have to undo the cluster first. You should be able to find more than enough info using the search, it's been mentioned a few times

i bid on a 140 speedo entire gauge cluster on ebay. Says it came out of an 85 camaro (didn't specify on package).
After i get it, all the gauges in the cluster will hook right up (correct??). Now, im assuming the calibration will be off.. what do i do from there? take it to an autoshop and have them replace gears in the 700r4? i have absolutely no idea what to do, so all help is greatly appreciated. Thanx

the 140 mph gauge cluster from an 85-89 will plug right in. there is no calibration needed. just pull out the old cluster, put in the new one, and you're all set. hope you have skinny arms, i had a hell of a time reaching back there to disconnet and reconnect the speedo cable. a little advice i would give, take out the drivers seat. i had to lay on my back, wasn't too comfortable with half my back on the seat, half on the floor. there is an article in the tech article section on how to swap the clusters, it's quite easy.
