screwdriver in defrost vent!!! Help!!

hey guys, I haven't posted much here, I just kinda try and see what others have posted about different things. I tried the search but it's a weird question. So here goes.

I know that someone, at sometime, has dropped thier screwdriver into the defrost vent while putting in, or taking out, their dash in their camaro or firebird. Any cool tricks to retrieve said screwdriver??

I actually did this 9 months ago so it's not like it is messing anything up or HAS to be removed, but I liked that screwdriver and would like to get it back. Any suggestions for a newb would be appreciated.

JJ

Sorry, just have to laugh because I did the exact same thing putting speakers in

If you have a retractable magnet antenna(if you do, you'll know what I mean), that might work. Or tie a magnet on a piece of string or wire, that's what ended up working for me.

Use a strong flexible magnet and run it down the vent and hope the screwdriver is at a good angle for pulling it out.

Anyone have a 9/32 behind the sail-panel plastic? I had 3 in there before I stripped the interior.

I managed to drop one of the dash screws down there once. Miraculously it showed up sitting on the floor by the gas pedal a week later. I'm not exactly sure how, since I don't know how the ducts are routed in the dash, but I assume there's an opening on the bottom somewhere. Have a look under the dash on the side it fell in. The telescoping magnet is a good try, though you'll have to find a decently strong one to pick up a screwdriver. If all else fails, take apart the dash.

Well its lost for good if you can't reach it easy.

But everyone listen to this.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT. Sit a mini bic lighter on your dash. One went down a friend heater vent and in the Big Boy drive thru we both ad heart attacks as we thought someone just blasted us with a shot gun. But of course once we realized we were still alive we put two n two together.

Never Ever sit a mini bic on your dash board.
