would wire up a socket for a bulb that has one end grounded and one end on the ACC slot in your fuse panel... when you turn your car on or on ACC then it will light the bulb... you will need to drill holes to accomodate the socket.

As far as the wiring goes, i have no problem, and will probably have that set on to the DRL with the tails and fogs, however , i am wondering how to clear the bird to allow for light to pass though, as mine is black on the inside

You have to scrape the paint off ths inside...If you tilt it at an angle, you can see the shape outline of the bird. Get a dremel or a razor or something, and carve out out the shape. Just be careful, its really obvious if you mess up...
I have done this on my 86 TA, with a dremel tool, I carved out sections of the mount plate near the edge of the bird where I could let light it from the back on the edges. then I took a few of the xmas tree mini bulbs and epoxied them in place with clear epoxy. you could probably use the high out put LED's now, I did this a long time ago.
The lights could be wired up with the regular parking lights.
