T-top differences
Will a set of 1984 T-tops fit a 1991 RS t-top car? I did a search and did not turn up anything. In other words, are the T-tops interchangeable from 1984 - 1992?
Or are there differences thru the years.
Thanks!

Yup, as a matter of fact I got my '91s on my '84 right now (and my '84s on the '91).

There was 3 styles,
Factory:
82-83 Hook style (no lock)
84 - Pin style (NO lock)
84-92 Pin style (with lock)
NOTE: the locking T-tops seemed to be an option in 1984.
C&C style T-tops, completely different, 2" shorter, some poped up in the rear like a sunroof.

i tried puttin my 84s on my 91 and they didnt fit to well. maybe i need to take the trim off the edges of the 84s for a better fit.

Keep in mind that starting in 1989 there was an option for Acrylic T-tops, they are made by Leximar. The pins appear to be larger since there is a larger mechanism. The set of plastic tops I have the recievers on the body of the car in the front and rear happen to be the same as those used with the Glass type. The Adjustment is different for the Plastic tops tho. It seems as if the Plastic tops pull down really hard when used with the glass adjustment.

mine are both pin style t tops. but on the outter edge of the 84s there is a metal trim type piece. im gonna take it off and see if it fits like that. if it does then im all good cuz i got a extra set of t tops. i actually have 3 sets, i have some hook style back up in canada at my moms house. i have no use for them though.

Thanks all for the replies! I sold my 1991 RS to guy that was trying to put his 1984 T-tops on the '91. He said they physically fit ok, but could not get them locked down ie pushing in on the arm/ handle whatever you call it.
I think maybe okfoz hit on the problem ie the option in 1984. However, I believe he said his '84 tops were the locking type if that makes a difference. I dunno!
I do know mine latched down real tight and you had to apply a little force to push the handle/arm in
to get them locked down as well as applying a little force pulling out on the handle to take them off. Maybe he is not applying enough force afraid the arm/handle might break.
Thanks again!

Weren't these an option for the Firebird only? I don't recall hearing about Lexan tops for Camaros, but I never thought about this till you mentioned it.

MurcoRS stated in a search that the OEM Lexan T- Tops began to bow and that seems to be my problem. Anyone else had similiar problems? Thanks
