Am I in loser denial?

My 92 heritage edition came with the louvers on the rear hatch so we painted them the colour of the car. Everyone that has ever seen the car says it looks sweet except for the louvers, but i think they look awesome! not to mention im one of the only ones in Ontario with them still in one piece!
What does everyone think ?

You're not the only one. I like them on some cars, if the car is the right color, and the louvers are flat black, and they're not the stock type.

I'm a big fan of louvers, Deloreans look amazing with them as well. If I owned a 3rdgen model that originally came with louvers, I'd definitely keep them intact. Very sweet addition to certain Camaros.

I've seen cars that can make louvers look good, but they'd look even better without them......

Opinions on louvers are about like big spoilers, you either love them or you hate them.

I don't like them but it's not my car. If you like them leave them on.

Check out the Ontario board at the bottom of the board selection page.

So yeah not a big fan of The louvers, but just today i saw a burgundy camaro with black ones and it looked real nice. If you like them keep them. By the way you can get a set for a camaro, if thats what u got, from Paddock camaro accessories, www.paddockparts.com for $233 dollars. Shoot just go to ebay, don't make excuses.

hey, if anyone wants it, i've got the center piece just laying around, the sheetmetal one, not the plastic. Only the center though, pulled it off an 83 Z-28 i parted out. I need to get rid of it, but don't want to scrap it and have no way to get them to a swap meet. If you're around Kansas e-mail me or something, cause I can't bring myself to just throw it away.

If you have just the center piece, you could just throw them away. Those aren't the factory ones and are not the good type. The one piece look is the good sets and the center pieces get attached individually to the outer pieces. Most aftermarket sets sit higher on the window than the factory and don't look that good. Here's a factory set on my car...

And the factory ones on your car are the ones I despise. There are no "good" styles and "bad" styles, only "different" styles. Whether anything looks good or bad is a matter of individual opinion.

what's your gripe apeiron? I was telling the other guy that the center sets he has isn't worth anything so throwing them out won't be a bad thing. I didn't say anything about despising them. There are good ones and bad ones. The good ones don't rattle and have a lower profile. The bad ones rattle, sit higher on the window and look like an aardvark shell. Whatever you like dude.

Not trying to start an argument, but it is the factory louvre. It's the aluminum center, and had the crappy plastic sides that were double-sided taped on, and the center was held on by two clips to the top of the window. Your factory louvre was for the IROC Z-28, and the one that I have is from an 83 Z-28. It's exactly like the one I had on my 82 coupe before I let the tow truck driver tow the car from the rear without thinking about it....yep, wind caught the louvre and it flew. I believe it was either 84 or 86 that the factory louvre styles changed to the single piece, mostly due to the rattling complaints.

I can't believe I typed in aardvarks... I meant armadillo!!!

Factory louvers weren't available until 1986. All sets prior to that were aftermarket. Some dealers installed them from the aftermarket prior to sale. Without the side pieces, the center piece won't do the job correctly and won't look that good either. Good luck getting rid of the partial set. I have a partial factory set that I haven't been able to get rid of.
