Dashpad solutions

I've already done a search and came up with few alternatives to buying one from classic industries ($280.. damn thing better be made of carbon fiber!) , or getting this "cover" as is noted in this thread

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...light=dash+pad

Are their any other aftermarket solutions for dashes that aren't going to cost me a ********?

I saw a replacement dashcover somewhere for 125 bucks. "Coverlay" may be the vendor, don't remember. There are a couple of places that make a replacement plastic cover that just glues onto the existing dash, all around 100 bucks. If I find the link again I'll post it. Also, fuzzy carpet dashpads are around 25 bucks at the auto parts store, and can be used to protect an uncracked dash. My dash cracked this summer, and I almost lost my mind. Probably will get the plastic cover when funds permit, but that's low on the list of things to do. Performance and mechanicals always comes first.

P.S. Funny sig.

He said he didnt want an overlay... so to answer your question.. NO your completely screwed unless you posess the powers to fab up something yourself. You can always try to buy a used one that is still nice.... but I just spent $175 for one on ebay and recieved a complete piece of crap so I guess take your chances but I would go ahead and buy the classic industries one if you dont want to have to worry about it.

Me being 18 and having to pay for my own food, gas, etc. and stay alive, it took me a while to save up for a new dash pad. Well 2 months after I got it, I had my entire dash out and was finishing putting it back in, I went under the hood and told my friend NOT TO MESS WITH THE DASHPAD and guess what? He tried to put it in and cracked it!!! I was so pissed and he was like "oops". So morale of this story (for me) is if I'm spending all that money I don't want an oem one. I want like a fiberglass or something one that is more durable and still looks nice. Or maybe I'll try and glass over my old dashpad....

So many people have said they were going to glass their dash but I've yet to actually see pics of one.....

shiyet... seems im out of options in a sense.... that "hard cover" may be my only option. I cannot believe that someone has not made a solution to this problem. Thats ridiculous. I wish I could fab one for sale. Knowing that EVERY SINGLE third gen owner will have this problem, imagine how quickly these things would sell if I made them and sold them for $50 a piece... good grief... only in dreams it seems.

http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/ has them for the TA - which I think is the same as the Camaro. If you look up the parts for the Camaro, there is a 'two piece dash' there - no picture - but it's probably the same as the TA dash. I'll be getting one of these to mod for my fourth gen door panels.

No need to give up ********* or anything.

Dashpad restoration solution...

I'm mocking up a dashpad that uses vinyl material as an overlay. All I can say is that it's NOT a dash-CAP.

Stay tuned for breaking news !

I think Redraif may have a spare Camaro dash pad (used) thats in good shape...she'd probably let it go for $100 or so. I know she has a few Firebird ones.
