What to do about the door panels? Open for Idea's
I have changed alot to my interior...I plan on keep my original dash...but I would really like to update my door panels. I've heard that either it's not possible to install 4th gen door panels with the 3rd gen dash or it looks tacky. Anyone have any idea's?

it's not possible due to clearance issues I believe. I believe if you look to the stickys at the top of the page you'll find a lot of info on swappings of 3rd to 4th gen interiors.
You can also take the door panels that you have right now and re-do them to something a lil bit more to your taste. Jo-Ann's fabric should have all the materials you should need for that, and you can then call it "custom"

I think the 4th gens will work if you cut a bit of material out... but it would probably look terrible. Maybee you could recover the top of yours in leather to match the seats and modify them to accept 4th gen door handles and arm rest? That would look pretty sweet IMO. I have the base model panels not the custom cloth ones, but I actually like them better, they fit the seats more.
84customz, I been watchin your progress on your car since I joined the board over a year ago, all UI gotta say is keep up the good work. I was just curious what kinda roll cage you have in your car.

Have you considered GTA door panels? They aren't exactly 4th gen panels, but they're more stylish than the camaro panels, and will still integrate well with the rest of your interior. If you really wanted to pull it all together, you could get some leather or vinyl that matches your seats, and incorporate that into the gta panels.

I remade mine with 1/4" luann and 1/8" outdoor foam. Over a couple days, they've turned out nice so far and fit great. Just CAREFULLY strip down the cardboard backed ones, head to Lowe's and a decent fabric shop, then start tracing. You'll need a jig saw, a drill with a 3/8" bit, and maybe a circular saw to get all the holes cut out. You might want to soak some WaterSeal or soundproofing on the backside of these, just as an extra water barrier. You can buy the christmas tree clips at Advance or Autozone for about 3$ a pack of 15.
I've got about 30$ in mine, and they'll be on the car when I get the time to put the top mouldings on, and get everything back together. I'll get a pic up when that happens.
Good luck, let us know how you make out.
