Only thing I could think of would be to have something attatched/go through there from the factory and not have to worry about the gas tank. Can't imagine what though. I just took the rear carpet out of the GTA the other week. It had never been up.. everything was stuck down factory like... and nothing was there so heh.. dunno.

I have a baby amp down there...no clue what its for though. GM probably had some option that they thought they might do, but never did. There are some 4th gens that I believe have some extra hardware on the torque arm, like GM might have been thinking about a drive shaft loop for them. though they never did it.

I think there looking at the small gap under the floor pan around the little bit of room near the fender wheel. I used most of the extra area when I made my subwoofer box
