Need help swapping doors

The mirror was ripped partially off the passenger door of my 91' Z28, I would rather replace door and mirror than repair the damage.
Will any third gen door fit without modifying? How does one differentiate parts GM vs aftermarket?
Before transferring guts from existing door to replacement, is there any tips or pointers I should note which are not mentioned in my "Service Manual"?
I would appreciate any and all suggestions, shortcuts, or warnings that will help in this transition.

TIA BlueSteel91Z28

If just the mirror is damaged it would be a hell of a lot easier to just replace that. If door is damaged too how severe???? Swapping doors is a pita especially when aligning it, if you dont have to swap doors, dont.

If you do, all doors should fit right in, go for the newer models though since they will probably be in better shape. Before you put on the new door it is a good idea to change out the pin and bushing set while its off the car. This is pretty cheap to do. When putting the door on, use a jack to help raise/align it. They make a special tool i think on top down solutions that will ease the aligning of the door, if you wanna buy it.

Given the mirrors reinforcement, it ripped out a good size chunk of metal and creased the door about a foot long.
I'm not too keen on doing the body work but if it's less of a headache than swapping I'll look into it.

I had to replace both doors on my car. The car was left outside for a few years before I got it and with all the rain here the doors rusted beyond repair. I had terrible trouble getting them to line up. It was a real headache but got it eventually. Below is a post I done about a year ago, ANDYZ28 describes it well

Hope this helps,
Gerry.
